The Ohio Department of Administrative Services Reimagines State Employee Headcounts on DataOhio Portal

The Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Human Resource Division has recently transformed the state’s monthly Employee Headcount reports into an interactive dashboard in partnership with the DataOhio portal team.

State of Ohio human resource administrators, chief financial officers, and citizens who utilize the state’ employee headcount reports will find the dashboard particularly useful for planning and tracking trends, as well as, creating employee count snapshots. The dashboard allows users to track trends of employee counts per agency, and collective bargaining status. Users can view the number of full-time, part-time, and temporary employees an agency employs. Additionally, results can be filtered by month, year and appointment type. The dashboard is available for download in csv format for further analysis.

“The new Employee Trends Dashboard is a great example of how DAS is reimagining the way we collect and deliver meaningful and actionable data to the State of Ohio through the DataOhio Portal,” said Director Madden. “The interactive visualizations provide a new level of insight for our colleagues and the automation will save DAS staff time the time it takes to manually build the reports.”

Users can access the State Employee Trends dashboard by filtering the DataOhio Portal Catalog by “Department of Administrative Services”.

The vision of the DataOhio Portal is to be the centralized location for State of Ohio data for state agencies and their partners. The Department of Administrative services joins 10 other agencies to collectively provide over 300+ datasets and 175 visualizations, which delivers transparency across the state, while helping to inform programs and policy, for a better Ohio.
